| The upcoming presidential election is vital to the future of Afghanistan, stability of the region and global peace. It must address issues of import for Afghanistan and the international community’s fight against terrorism, state the firm intention to establish and maintain peace and promote democracy, governance and the rule of law in order to encourage development and economic growth.
To effectively address the current challenges and move Afghanistan in the direction toward prosperity, democracy and a drug-free society, elements of my campaign strategy are:
Vision, Mission and Goals: I envision a peaceful, democratic, developed, drug-free, prosperous, sovereign and united Afghanistan. My mission is to promote democratic principles, development, freedom, social justice, human rights and good governance and strengthen the rule of law in Afghanistan -- coexisting with its neighbours in peace and having respect for international law and conventions.
My goal is to foster peace and stability, national unity, human rights, the rights of women and children, socio-economic development and democracy by strengthening and empowering communities. I am pledged to supporting the needs and interests of Afghans, all ethnic groups included, and I recognise the central role the community plays in society. I also recognise the interest and concerns of the international community and Afghanistan’s responsibility toward that end.
Excellent Team: I am committed to a working team based on merit, professionalism, ability and integrity. I am cognizant of the fact that effective governance and the rule of law are vital to winning the hearts and minds of Afghans and my administration and I will remain committed to improved governance and adherence to the rule of law. Every effort will be made to effectively address and eliminate nepotism and corruption.
Effective Communication: Effective communication is the key to winning the hearts and minds of not only Afghans but also of our neighbours. I am committed to building trust and confidence and cordial relations with my fellow Afghan citizens, our neighbours and the international community.
Mobilisation of Constituents and Stakeholders: As a leader, I will mobilise fellow Afghans to participate in the rebuilding and development of Afghanistan by respecting their values, tradition and culture and reaching out to all citizens, addressing their needs and educating them about their civic responsibilities to their compatriots and the international community. I also feel responsible for educating the international community about Afghans, our culture and traditions as well as further strengthening mutual friendship and partnerships.
Strategy
I will focus on political, economic, social, cultural, governance, rule of law, military, and reconciliation issues in a comprehensive way and pave the way for a better and more effective coordination and cooperation amongst NATO, ISAF, Coalition and Afghan security forces and strengthen solidarity and unity. I will establish, promote and maintain effective communication and relations within Afghanistan and with the neighbors, region and international community. I believe in meaningful partnerships, mutual respect and non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries. I will effectively mobilize constituencies such as the National Assembly, Provincial Councils, political societies (parties), Civil Society Groups (NGOs, associations, media), tribal shuras, the private sector (the business community), local leaders (Maliks, Khans, religious scholars),and former Jihadi leaders and moderate Taliban to work together for the interest of Afghans as well as the international community. Mobilization can be done through a variety of mechanisms such as face to face interactions, jirgas, shuras, public events, seminars, workshops, civic education sessions, and through media messages.
Priorities
Security: As a national figure and due to the fact that I have support across ethnic lines and have worked for all Afghans, I strongly believe I can nurture peace and stability in Afghanistan. With an effective communication strategy, a strong political will, effective collaboration among all stakeholders and coordination among security forces, peace and stability can be achieved, maintained or promoted. The rule of law is absolutely essential for establishing peace and my administration will be committed to the rule of law. No one can be above the law.
Governance: The lack of effective governance has undermined our national security and it is imperative to promote good governance, eliminate corruption and nepotism and establish a system of rewards and punishments. Political and civil service appointments will be based on merit.
Economic Growth: As sustainable democracy and development are co-related, my administration will focus on economic growth, creation of job opportunities, poverty alleviation programmes, private sector encouragement, rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts. I am committed to better living standards for all Afghans.
Intercultural Communication: My administration and I will promote effective intercultural communication and awareness. I will focus on educating my people about their civic duties and responsibilities and, at the same time, work tirelessly to educate the international community about the Afghan culture and traditions.
Drug-Control Strategy: Illicit drugs undermine our national security and identity. My administration will develop and implement a comprehensive drug-control strategy and make Afghanistan a narcotics-free country. My administration will prosecute all drug offenders regardless of who they are.
Reconciliation & Inclusiveness: In order to establish peace and stability, I will spare no efforts to reach out to all Afghans and the opposition members who can be integrated and who would play a constructive role in ensuring a prosperous future for Afghanistan. Terrorists and extremists will have no place in my administration.
Consolidation of Democracy: In order to consolidate democracy, my administration will focus on strengthening political institutions, civil society, an independent judiciary, free media and the creation and support of law-enforcement mechanisms.
